Long before temples or scriptures, there was the shaman. Alone at the fire’s edge, cloaked in feathers, eyes closed in trance. The first mediators between visible life and unseen mystery, shamans bridged earthly and spiritual worlds. Their visions were often powered by sacred plants, carefully prepared to unlock trance states where they healed, divined, or guided their communities. Chosen through dreams, illnesses, or extraordinary experiences, they held a liminal role and were believed to speak with spirits, ancestors, and gods. From Siberia to the Americas, they were healers, cultural custodians, and keepers of harmony.
